On September 7, 1977, Gumaca had its first ring with General Telephone System under Strowger type step-by-step equiptment with only 100 lines. The System was under the management of Spouses Jaime and Nilda Ramos owners/managers.
The couple were from breed of telephone enthusiasts, Artemio G. Ilano and Victoria T. Jalavera of Imus, Cavite, who were former owners of Filipinas Telephone Co., Inc (FITELCO), with then branches in Cavite and Pampanga provinces and Naga Telephone Company Inc. (NATELCO) in Naga City.
With the technology and management know-how they inherited from their parents, and dire wish of bringing telephone services to potentially lucrative areas in their route to Bicol, Jaime and Nilda Ramos have decided to open GTSi in Gumaca 1977 and gradually expanded to Atimonan (1979), Candelaria (1981), Sariaya (1983), Tiaong (1988), San Juan (1992), Padre Garcia (1994), Infanta (1995), Dolores (1997), Libmanan (1994), Pitogo (1998), Pasacao (2000), Real (2001), San Antonio (2001), Mulanay (2001), Catanuan (2002), Unisan (2003) and Sampaloc on August 1, 2008, GTSi acquired the ownership of NORCAMTEL in Daet and LABOTEL in Labo both in Camarines Norte on 2014.
The Company has over 20,000 VOIP lines and Fiber to the home technology on its various exchanges. Fiber optic lay out are on going to meet the demand for high speed internet and comply with the company’s vision.
To put up a modern telephone and Data exchange in every municipality in Southern Tagalog, is the self-imposed task and mission which is coming into reality.
